I'm updating this post with this vid. ;)
**********************************************************************************
Today my stomach is full with VWok chow mein with shrimp lucheon set. The taste? I'm not giving a 5, most probably just 2 or 2.5 out of 5.. haha
Now, talking about food,,
instead of listing all Malaysian food that I've craved for months,, I'm gonna talk about food in the US. In this post, it's gonna be more about what I consume everyday..
Here, me and my housemate would cook rice, vegetables, and most of the time, any dish that can be cooked with chicken. How about fish? Or Beef? Or Shrimp? Not that we don't want to cook them, but since getting them either hard or expensive, we ended up cooking chicken almost everyday. Urgh, boring (!!). But still I'm grateful for being able to eat them easily as halal chicken is easy to buy here.
But then, although we have to eat chicken almost everyday, there are sometimes when we don't have enough time to cook or we're simply craving for seafoods..that's when we opted to eat at Chinese restaurants.. I know some of you might be skeptical about how they cook the food like, "How if they cook pork in the same wok?",or "What if they cook the food with cooking wine??".. But there are certain things that are really out of our control especially when we live in non-Islamic country.. We can't be certain about whether they did cook pork in the wok that's used to cook our seafood dish.. If one doubted it which makes she or he feels guilty eating at a Chinese restaurant,, then it's better to avoid eating there at all, since the food status is syubhah.. But if you are confident, then, don't think too much.. (Just like scholarships case, when people keep questioning whether the scholarships granted which might come from source like alcoholic drinks sale is OK to be received..) Well for the cooking wine part, me and my friends would usually ask for no cooking wine in our food.. Honestly, I've accidentally consume food that's cook with wine once. Oh, I was really freaking out at that time.. But thank God, the senior are helping us the newcomers a lot by sharing lots of information bout such issue..I have manage to try avoiding such things to happen again..
Oh ya, one interesting fact about eating at a chinese restaurant is that, during you wait for the main dish to be served, waiter would serve you hot tea,,in the middle of eating session they'll ask you whether you're doing fine or not..and whenever you have almost finished eating, the waiter will provide you fortune cookies,,
I like the last part.. In the fortune cookies,, there'll be a piece of rectangular paper that states your fortune. Of course it's a BIG NO to believe in any of them-the fortunes. It just serves for entertainment..but surely not to be taken into serious consideration..
Sometimes, I usually go for spicy foods since I'm a big fan of them. But since American don't favor spicy food at all, I always ended up felling disappoint cause although in the menu it said the food is spicy, but the fact is just they are so not spicyyy! Sometimes I even ask for extra spicy food, but then , oh well, it's still disapointing! TYPICAL AMERICAN REALLY DON'T EAT SPICY FOOD.. Make them eat sambal belacan..hehe..THEY'LL DEFINITELY FREAK OUT!
Now that I've write so long, I'm beginning to worry about my Analytical Chemistry exam. Two days from now. I hope I'll make myself really into these lab and statistical stuffs.
So bye for now.
Thanks for reading this long post of mine :)
